Forensic Work
Analog Media Verification and Authentication - includes analysis of audio tapes to detect for any splicing, over-recorded audio, or editing of recordings.
Digital Audio Enhancement – includes de-noising of analog recorded audio transferred to a DAW. For the purpose of increasing clarity of clients specified sound. And recovering dialog masked by noise. A variety of analog and digital analysis techniques may be employed.
Forensic Noise Reduction – we are able to substantially remove all types of
background noise in recordings. Any kind of hiss, hum, rumble, buzzes, clicks,
and room ambiences can be digitally manipulated to bring out the clarity of the
recorded sound in question.
Speech Enhancement – through digital signal processing and the use of
dedicated analog signal processing, it is possible to enhance the spoken
word. Depending on the recording, this can lead to a more complete
and detailed understanding of any type of dialog hidden in the recording.
Content Identification – through analysis and study, a list of the aural
content of the recording can be achieved. This can be an aid in verifying
the location where the recording was made and can provide definitions of
the various sounds heard in the recording.
Transcripts – of the final edited recording, can be provided for legal use though the use of a court reporter.
Voice Prints – can be provided to aid the client in identification of a
specific sound or voice. These voice prints are based on a digital
time-frequency spectrum analysis.
Confidential Coverage – of your forensic project will be provided. We
will only release media and information to you, unless otherwise ordered
by a court of law. With our normal hourly rate, we can also provide expert witness
for your day in court.
*It is important to understand that all of the services above are completely
dependant on the original recording and its contents. If the original recording
is very bad, the results are limited. We will be glad to analyze the material pre-session for a fee and determine the degree of success you can expect. We are not equipped to do magnetic analysis and unable to work with water or fire damaged media. It is better for us to work with the original recorded media. If unable to send the original media, we would prefer a DAT copy made by a competent audio engineer.
Keep in mind that there are many diverse laws governing the use of forensic
materials in the court system. Any questions you have about the use of forensic material in
court, should be discussed with your attorney before sending us any of your media and materials. It is always best to discuss with your attorney any procedures dealing with forensic material and “rules of evidence” before any forensic or forensic related services are provided.
If you have any questions; please contact us before sending any materials or media.
